Mid-Width Front TJ Bumper

Our Mid-Width TJ Front Bumper is 49" wide putting the ends of the bumper about even with the center of the fender turn-signals.  The width is great for a Jeep that still sees road-time.  The bumper has an 1-3/4" DOM "Trail Bar" attached along with gussets for strength and great looks. The top of the Trail Bar is 9" off the top of the bumper surface and angles out at about 25* for great winch protection and a place to mount lights.

Features include:
  • 3/16" formed steel construction for strength,
  • 1" thick D-ring tabs welded through the bumper fits standard 3/4 D-Rings with a 7/8" pin.
  • Pre-drilled light mounting holes.
  • Drilled for the standard 10" x 4.5" winch bolt pattern.
  • Fairlead mount that accepts both hawse and roller fairleads included.
  • Uses 8 mounting points; 6 on the top, 2 on the bottom.
  • 1 3/4" DOM tube Trail Bar.
  • Pre-drilled hole for accepting our 97-06 TJ Steering Box Skid

Good Quality. Needed Modification.
First off, the appearance, materials, coating (ordered powder coat), and welds on this bumper are superb. The design however, needed some tweaking. First, my Warn 9.5 XP winch would not initially fit on this bumper. The passenger side of the motor interfered with the gussets on the trail bar. I had to drill new winch mounting holes approximately 1/2" offset to the driver side for the winch to clear the trail bar since I did not want to cut the trail bar gusset. Drilling new holes also concerns me as it weakens the bumper on the winch mounting surface. Enough to matter? I don't know. I guess we will find out. Second if you are still running the OEM sway bar, the bumper will not sit flush on the frame rails as it interferes with the OEM sway bar bracket. You can't run the bumper underneath the sway bar bracket, because it will only sit halfway underneath the bracket and cause the sway bar to sit unevenly. This will cause improper function of the sway bar. I went ahead and mounted the bumper sitting on top of the sway bar bracket, but this creates a bend in the bumper as you tighten the mounting bolts since the bumper sits at an angle with small gap between the frame rails. The interference with the OEM sway bar bracket also caused the mounting holes to be out of alignment. I had to wallow out the two most aft holes with a file so the mounting bolts could thread. Ideally, the bumper mounting bracket should be extended all the way aft so it is able to sit completely underneath the OEM sway bar bracket and sit flush with the frame rails. Either that, or design the bumper with shims to match the height of the front half of the sway bar bracket so the bumper can sit flush without any gaps/improper alignment. I was not able to add any shims since the clearance towards the front of the bumper was too tight. Lastly, I'm concerned with the strength of fairlead mounting bracket. I mounted my roller fairlead and can cause the mounting bracket to flex by pressing on it with my bare hands. If I can do this with my hands/body weight, what is going to happen during any kind of off camber recovery pull? It doesn't instill confidence. I am going to have to modify the fairlead mounting bracket with gussets or use a different company's fairlead bracket that is more rigid. So, minus two stars due to the problems above. If you buy this bumper, be prepared to modify it. Your mileage may vary. I will update the review once I use it during recovery situations.

Awesome quality
VERY quality bumper, buy it, install it, done. i've been around the jeep aftermarket for a long time, and the fit/finish are second to none along with the strength in construction.
